I went to my local Harley shop and scrounged around in the used bin and found a cool looking muffler. I could see right through it and it looked like as though the restriction at the rear was just a little larger than our stock mufflers. Well, I installed it and it looks great, sounds awesome and I belief it has increased my power. The true test will come when I hook up my sidecar and hit the highway. I paid $5 for the muffler. Thanks for the advice. I was told that it came from an XL but I don’t believe it is stock. There were all kinds of mufflers in their bin, even 2 supper trap mufflers and the shop was not trying to make a lot of money on this stuff.
I read about some of you wanting a smaller rear pulley. If you read Street Chopper magazine there are shops that will custom make a pulley for a couple hundred bucks. I also took note of David’s entries about Thumpers from the past being capable of putting out as much as 50hp. I would like to know if anyone out there has got his or her Savage to put out 40hp yet and how was it accomplished. I hope to have my bike putting out at least 40hp soon.
Within the next two weeks I hope to have my custom air box done and my mechanical oil temperature gauge installed. I let you all know the results.
